The research study will be conducted at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC), Edwards, CA. Selected individuals will participate in a one-day on-site study involving interviews, written Q&A's, and a flight simulator. The study will take place from October to November 2026.
NASA Air Taxi Comfort Study Participant Overview
Research engineers at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center are conducting a study to better understand how different flight motions affect passenger comfort in emerging air taxi vehicles. Insights from this research will help support the future of urban air transportation.
What to expect during participation (in-person at NASA Armstrong):

Complete a brief familiarization flight experience in the Human Flight Experience Lab.

Complete a short questionnaire about yourself and your attitudes toward flight.

Participate in three virtual-reality, motion-based flight simulator sessions and provide comfort ratings during each ride.

Total time commitment: approximately 6 hours on a single day.
Eligibility requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be at least 4’11” tall and weigh between 80 and 300 pounds.

Must be able to enter and exit the simulator via stairs with the assistance of handrails.

Must have normal or corrected-to-normal vision.

Selected participants will complete an online medical screening prior to the study visit.

Selected participants will be required to comply with Edwards AFB visitor access requirements.
Compensation:
-
Participants will receive $180 for time and travel.
